Dodi Lukebakio has had a good enough season at Fortuna Düsseldorf to attract attention from elsewhere in the Bundesliga.
After he scored a hat-trick against Bayern Munich early in the season, it was even suggested the German champions were keen on the Watford owned player.
That soon disappeared, and whilst Lukebakio has 14 goals and five assists so far this season there have been questions, including from his own manager, about his attitude and approach to the game.
At 21 years of age there’s plenty of time for that to be fixed, and Bild insist Schalke are keen. It’s something they first reported a few days ago, and the German club, now managed by David Wagner, would need to come to an agreement with Watford.
Bild reiterate the interest today, and they’ve got a comment from the player which is being taken as something of a hint.
After training on Tuesday, the forward was asked about Schalke, and said: “I’ve only just read that. In addition, the season is still running. Then maybe I can say something…”
Lukebakio said this with ‘a big smile’, and that’s another reason why Bild insinuate it means something.
