Diogo Dalot’s loan move from Manchester United to AC Milan was reasonably successful.
He didn’t make a huge impression, didn’t become a star of the show, and wasn’t first choice for the Rossoneri when everyone else was available. Despite that, he won some fans at the club.
The versatility of playing on either side of the defence meant Dalot was a good squad player, filling in for others when needed and generally being reliable if not explosively good. His attitude was never in doubt, and it was felt the Portuguese defender was a good person to have around the place.
That saw the possibility of a stay discussed in Italy on repeat occasions, but the slant was usually that Manchester United would be looking for more money than AC Milan would be willing to pay. Another loan has been pushed forward as a possibility on occasion too, although that may well need the 22-year-old to extend his contract beyond 2023.
Milan News have a small article on Wednesday stating ‘it may not be over yet’ for Dalot at the Serie A club. He’s now left but there’s a claim he’s been ‘promised’ talks about his future at Manchester United, and inevitably a potential move, later this summer.
Should AC Milan not find another option, and Dalot still be available at that stage, then there’s the possibility of another deal.
