One of the more dramatic transfer sagas of the end of the transfer window, Moussa Dembélé’s move from Celtic to Lyon left a sour taste in many fans’ mouths.

The young striker pushed hard to get his move away from Celtic Park, leaving his club no real choice other than potentially keeping an unhappy player just to prove a point.

Eventually selling Dembélé to Lyon, the Scottish Premiership champions haven’t had the best start to the season, currently second behind an undefeated Hearts side, scoring just five goals in five games.

Down his end, the Frenchman had a rather poor debut for the Ligue 1 outfit, failing to score, and accidentally setting up an opposition counter-attack (which led to a penalty and a goal) with a poor first touch.

That being said, the general consensus in France is that Dembélé will be a great asset for Lyon, just like he was for Celtic during his time in Glasgow.

France Football asked his U21 manager with the national team, Sylvain Ripoll about it, who explained it might take some time for him to get used to things.

He said: “He’s great at keeping the ball, buying his team time, at finding space in the box, as well as being ice cold an determined in front of goal, but he’s also going to have to get used to how they attack. This may not be what his everyday life was at Celtic, but he has this ability to adapt to be a real asset”.
