The chances of Celta Vigo’s Maxi Gomez moving to West Ham in 2019 are completely ruled out in an interesting story from El Desmarque today.

The Spanish outlet brings an article claiming the reasons the Hammers, Celta and the player don’t want the move to happen.

Starting with West Ham, El Desmarque claims the club made contact with Celta once they expected Marko Arnautovic to leave.

With the Austrian striker’s move collapsing little by little, the Hammers disappeared from the talks and never made the bid they promised to. Now, after giving up on a January signing, they think there are better attacking options for the summer market, and are unlikely to come back for Gomez.

Celta, on the other hand, were demanding the player’s €50m release clause to let him go, and never saw West Ham getting close to that amount during the negotiations.

They also shouldn’t make things easy as it’s claimed they don’t have a good relationship with Stellar Group, who manage Gomez’s career.

Regarding the player, El Desmarque says he considers himself to have better options than West Ham in case of a summer move, and that’s the third part which makes the transfer completely collapse.

These are only El Desmarque’s claims, there are more optimistic views available.
