It’s fair to say Gonzalo Higuain isn’t having a brilliant season.

Loaned by Juventus to AC Milan in the summer for €18m, with a further €36m payable in June should the club redeem his permanent registration, the 31 year old hasn’t been at the peak of his powers.

That said, he’s still managed to score seven goals in 18 games, spread over Serie A and the Europa League.

Gazzetta dello Sport have a Christmas Eve article on the striker’s situation and how much more delicate it is at Milan that it had been closer to the start of the season. No goals since October 28th has obviously had an impact, and Gazzetta say the player’s ‘crisis’ is another example of problems for the whole team.

There’s also concerns about the player’s attitude, with him not being quite the leader expected.

This is where Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri comes in, an the Italian newspaper says he ‘now waits for him in London’.

There’s nothing more added about a potential Chelsea move, or even when it would be, but it’s clear the less secure Higuain’s future is in Milan, the more rumours will appear of a move to Stamford Bridge.

Signing Higuain would be a big deal for Chelsea, and a risky move, if not a loan, given his age.
