Following his chat with SFR Sport where he hinted he wouldn’t be against a return to France because he still had a lot of friends playing there, Tottenham’s Moussa Sissoko opened a transfer rumour door that is yet to close.
Le Foot in France are the ones running with a story in their monthly magazine, stating Marseille have ‘reactivated’ the trail leading to the France international, with Mauricio Pochettino said to be conscious his midfielder needs regular game time ahead of the World Cup, and has ‘opened the door’ to a potential departure.
However, the French outlet state he can leave on one condition, and that’s if Tottenham get most of their money back, which means a bid nearing €35m (£30m) should do the trick.
While Marseille have that kind of money, it remains to be seen if they would actually be interested in spending that much in an area where, as things stand, they have a decent amount of depth, with the likes of Morgan Sanson and Luiz Gustavo having very good seasons.
Of course, strength in depth is always welcome, but it seems unlikely Andoni Zubizarreta would sanction spending €35m on a rotation player.
This sounds very much like a story written for the sake of it.
