After claims of Paulo Dybala having lunch with Diego Simeone in Madrid (with some saying they simply happened to be in the same restaurant at the same time) transfer rumours have grown around the Juventus player.

Naturally, the leading destination is being reported as Atletico Madrid, with Italy’s SportMediaSet (via Calciomercato) claiming the club could be ready to spend €110m on Dybala, if Antoine Griezmann goes to Barcelona.

No big transfer rumour can be complete without Premier League participation, but it’s still odd to see Tottenham Hotspur dragged into the story.

The claim goes that Mauricio Pochettino was ‘bewitched’ by the Argentine in the Champions League, and that’s what has got Tottenham in line for an unlikely swoop.

It’s difficult to believe, given Spurs have Harry Kane, and plenty of options to play off the England striker. Then there’s the fee and wages, and an overriding feeling Tottenham wouldn’t be prepared to match others.

A very unlikely one as it stands, but we’ll keep an eye on how this develops in Italy, and whether it seems at any stage Spurs are being used as anything other than window dressing.
