Polish newspaper Przeglad Sportowy today features a story about the worry from the national team regarding the little minutes that their Premier League players have been getting on the pitch this season.
One of them is Mateusz Klich, who despite regularly featuring for Leeds United, is only being used at the end of games.
The outlet explained that with manager Jesse March bringing in the likes of Marc Roca and Tyler Adams this summer, ‘it was to be expected’ that the Polish player wouldn’t be a starter for Leeds this season.
That’s one of the reasons why Klich ‘wanted to go out on loan’. And that move had even been approved by the manager, who knew the importance for him to get to the World Cup in good condition.
However, it’s said March ‘changed sides’ at one point. That was after the match against Wolverhampton Wanderers, where Klich did very well when called upon. Then it was decided the 32-year-old would stay in Leeds’ squad for the season.
So according to Przeglad Sportowy, the national team now ‘will see how the current situation of the midfielder will affect his importance at the national team’. Klich has eight appearances for the Whites this season, but with a total of only 306 minutes played.
