Bayern Munich midfielder Marc Roca is on the verge of completing his move to Leeds after Jesse Marsch pushed for the deal.
That’s according to Kicker, who say the Spaniard was an express wish from the Leeds coach, who is an ‘admirer’ of the player.
Earlier today, we covered reports from Spain and Germany that stated Roca was undergoing a medical at Elland Road this morning ahead of finalising a potential €17m deal.
Kicker back that up, stating Bayern have ‘closed the file’ on Roca, and he will move to Yorkshire this summer.
The deal will be worth €12m plus €5m in bonuses, as has been reported numerous times this week, and it is Marsch who ‘absoluetly wanted’ the deal to happen.
They’ve now put their money on the table, and Bayern are happy to sell in a deal that will even see them make a profit.
Roca was once considered a Thiago replacement, but he was never able to fill those shoes, struggling with the ‘high tempo and opponent pressure’ despite presenting him as a ‘fine footballer type strategist’.
In other words, he was great on the ball and a good creative player but struggled with the pace and pressure in the Bundesliga.
That could cause some concerns about a move to the Premier League, where Kicker say both of those struggles will become ‘even more challenging’.
Marsch, though, has pushed for the deal to happen, which would suggest he has a plan to help Roca shine at Leeds.
