Manchester City are buying a South American champion this weekend. The agent of Marlos Moreno, who won the Copa Libertadores for Atletico Nacional on Wednesday night, has confirmed the player is signing for Pep Guardiola’s side.
During the title celebrations, Eladio Tamayo told FutbolRed (via Sport): “I’ll travel with him on Saturday to sign the contract with Manchester City and then he’ll go to Deportivo on loan for a year.”
It was already being speculated that Guardiola wouldn’t use the 19-year-old this season, so now this loan to the Spanish side is finally confirmed.
With 33 points in 14 matches, Atletico Nacional made the best campaign in Copa Libertadores’ recent history. Moreno finished the competition with three goals and fourth assists.
The player was also linked to Santos, Porto and Liverpool in the past months, but after Manchester City joined the competition, they never needed much effort to complete the signing.
