Folloowing reports from the Italian media this week claiming Fiorentina are interested in signing Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani this summer, there’s now some curiosity in the local press regarding this chase.
So this week, Fiorentina News managed to have an interview with market intermediary Bernardo Brovarone. Besides praising the Uruguayan player, the official talked about the chances La Viola have of landing him as a free agent in the next window.
“I’ve known Cavani since he was 18. He’s always reminded me of Batistuta and I’ve always said it, which is why I was often taken for a ride. He’s a humble and highly professional guy. Personally, I’ve never seen a body like his: light, but very strong. Pulled like a boxer. For me he can be an exception for his age,” Brovarone told Fiorentina News.
“He could be the player who can take this Fiorentina to the next level. I have no details on the interest from the club for him, but I do not know how much the Viola club can be willing to spend crazy amounts for the signing of a 35-year-old.”
Brovarone, however, also pointed out that Cavani could end up returning to South America, naming a specific club who’d have the conditions of affording his signing.
“His will must also be understood: he’s very attached to his land and to South America. The interest of Boca Juniors for him is real and, with sponsors and more, the Buenos Aires club can manage to pay Cavani’s salary.”
Cavani’s contract with Manchester United expires this summer, and at this moment, it’s highly unlikely that the parties involved would work for a renewal.
Even though recent reports have been saying he’s eager to stay in Europe, the truth is that the 35-year-old’s future is pretty much unpredictable at this stage.
