Marco Materazzi, who is currently managing Indian Super League side Chennaiyin FC, has been speaking to Italian daily Gazzetta dello Sport about Jose Mourinho ahead of the Manchester derby.
The Inter Milan legend was asked who he believes is the best manager in the world, to which he replied: “How do you say the best coach in the world when there are four or more at the same level?
“José Mourinho, Pep Guardiola, Carlo Ancelotti and Marcello Lippi. And only one step below is Klopp and Conte.
“I can say that Mourinho and Lippi are the best for me, not only for what they did, that says it all, but because I have experienced them closely, from within.”
Materazzi also pointed out five reasons Mourinho has enjoyed so much success over the years at different clubs.
He added: “Motivation, cunning, knowledge, experience, and empathy.”
Materazzi played under Jose Mourinho at Inter, where they won the Champions League and Serie A twice.
