Mexico manager Tata Martino spoke to the Mexican media today regarding the national team’s upcoming games.

With friendlies to be played against Wales and Costa Rica, the North American side will be missing their main star Raúl Jiménez.

The Wolverhampton Wanderers striker continues working on recovering from his head injury, with still no set date for him to get back on the pitch.

The 29-year-old was even called up to be part of the squad, but only as an experienced player to be with his teammates, since he still isn’t in any condition to enter the pitch.

Speaking TUDN , Tata Martino discussed his expectations when it comes to having the striker back in the team.

“The evolution is constant, the Wolverhampton doctors are quite cautious and we don’t have their expectations in terms of times,” Tata Martino told TUDN.

“According to the evolution, I don’t know if we have the opportunity to see him this season and based on that, we will evaluate if it’s for half of year.”

“I think that this month of March and the beginning of April will be key to know definitively the dates for him to enter a pitch.”

Even though Martino didn’t say anything specific about Jiménez’s comeback, the Mexican media take his words as a sign that the striker will be available to play the Tokyo Olympics in the summer and represent his country on one of the more prestigious stages on offer.
