Marca have little doubt that Nolito is set to become a Manchester City player, and join compatriot Pep Guardiola at the English club.
Long a target of Barcelona, the Catalan club didn’t want to pay Nolito’s €18m buyout clause during the winter transfer window and their finances were in a shape to make things difficult.
Barcelona’s finances are better this summer, but they haven’t come in strong for Nolito and it looks like it may be too late.
Marca say Manchester City are set to pay the €18m clause for Nolito. The Spanish newspaper explain that Nolito had been determined to stay in Spain, and a move to Atletico Madrid was possible, but the intervention of Guardiola changed everything for him.
The news was first announced by Spain’s TV3 on Tuesday, and Marca say they’ve managed to confirm that themselves: Nolito has agreed to join Manchester City and the club will pay €18m for him.
