Monday’s edition of Marca has a double page spread on Real Madrid going for Andre Gomes and Manchester United being determined to sign Paul Pogba.

The Spanish newspaper say Madrid are increasingly keen on Gomes, someone they see as able to share Luka Modric’s job and provide cover and rest for the Croatian. They believe 22 year old Gomes has room for improvement and would grow surrounded by some of the world’s best footballers.

Gomes is said to look positively on a transfer and Valencia are in a ‘delicate’ financial situation. The club need to make a ‘significant fiscal adjustment’ to fit in with financial fair play, having failed to qualify for the Champions League.

Marca say Madrid will make their move in the coming days, although it has to be considered they’d meet Valencia’s asking price of €65m.

Despite going for Gomes, Marca believe there’s still Real Madrid interest in Paul Pogba. Those in power at the Spanish club think the pair would match each other well.

However, it’s once again explained that Manchester United are very keen. Jose Mourinho is said to be well aware of how Madrid attract players, so is pushing his current club get a deal done quickly.

Mourinho wants Manchester United to have an agreed deal with Juventus and terms finalised by the end of the week.

Zinedine Zidane is really pushing Madrid to buy Pogba, telling them the midfielder is his number one priority. Relations between Madrid and Mino Raiola are also said to have improved, but he’s already sealed two Manchester United deals this summer.
