This Wednesday, ESPN reported Everton’s will to sign Fernando Llorente from Sevilla. As the striker is set to leave the Spanish club this summer, Ronald Koeman’s side was said to be one of the first to show interest in the 31-year-old.
Now Marca have an article today giving a few more details about the player’s situation, whose form hasn’t been pleasing Sevilla’s board.
The club are indeed considering the possibility of selling Lorrente, although he’s training normally during the pre-season and still doesn’t know what will be of his future.
However, it’s not up to the board to decide. Marca says that the last word will be from Jorge Sampaoli, who has just taken charge of the club.
He’s still in his first weeks of work, and as he’s starting to get to know the squad better, he will soon take a decision whether to sell the striker or not.
Llorente joined Sevilla from Juventus last summer for free. The player finished the season with seven goals and five assists in 36 games for the Spanish side.
Marca say Llorente is Koeman’s second choice, having previously been interest in Graziano Pelle, from his former club Southampton. The Italian instead moved to China to drown in money.
