Tiemoué Bakayoko has had a pretty solid time at Napoli since moving to the Serie A club on loan from Chelsea in the summer transfer window. So far this season he’s made 18 appearances for the Naples side, scoring one goal in the process.
That goal came on Sunday, with a very late winner against Udinese, so therefore the midfielder is the subject of much attention from the Italian sport media on Monday.
Already, thought is being given to Bakayoko’s future beyond the current season and his loan with Napoli. His contract with Chelsea expires at the end of June 2022, meaning the Blues have a decision to make on him ahead of the summer.
Should they not choose to offer a renewal to the 26-year-old, then a sale is necessary before Bakayoko gets to the point that his contract is running down and his value begins to drop.
Staying at Napoli looks like a realistic scenario right now, and the player’s agent has been quizzed on the possibility.
Quoted by Italian journalist Simone Guadagno, he said: “Redemption by the Napoli? Too soon to talk about it, there are still so many things to see. Neither the club nor the player spoke to each other. Staying in Naples would be a good chance. We will see at the end of the season. However, Napoli has priority over his future for June.”
