Andreas Christensen is expected to leave Chelsea this summer and become a Barcelona player.

That’s been taken as fact in the Catalan media for a while, and Sport today again present the move as a certainty. The defender’s contract expires at the end of June, and therefore he’ll be available as a free agent, Sport suggest the deal is done and there’s no going back on it.

However, it would appear there’s already some worry creeping in about whether the commitment to the Chelsea player was the right one to make.

Sport report there’s ‘many doubts’ about Christensen, especially following his performance in Chelsea’s 4-2 defeat to Arsenal on Wednesday evening. The 26-year-old is said to be performing ‘well below the level’ he had been until a few weeks ago.

There’s a suggestion it’s down to nerves over his impending Barcelona move, yet there’s obviously no certainty on the reason.

The Blaugrana aren’t ‘calm’ about the situation, indicating there’s genuine worry, and there’s also been concern that the defender picks up ‘quite a few physical problems’.

Barcelona still trust that manager Xavi will be able to get the best out of him.
