Christian Eriksen’s situation at Manchester United hasn’t changed since Ruben Amorim was appointed as Erik ten Hag’s successor in November.

The midfielder struggled for regular minutes under Ten Hag and has made two appearances under the current manager. His deal lasts until the end of this season and his future could be away from Manchester United.

FC Midtjylland could make an approach to sign the 32-year-old on a free transfer next summer.

That’s according to Tipsbladet, who explain the Danish club are considering whether to try and ‘persuade’ him to agree a deal with them.

The report makes it clear Midtjylland haven’t made any offers to the Manchester United player so far.

The Denmark international hasn’t played at the highest level for a club in his own country and Midtjylland could present him that opportunity. Tipsbladet add he has to take a pay cut to join any Danish club or Ajax in 2025.

Midtjylland manager Thomas Thomasberg has now admitted his side have thought about signing the former Tottenham Hotspur man. He’s of the belief other Danish clubs would have also considering taking Eriksen.

“It would almost be strange if all Danish clubs hadn’t thought about him. Whether it was financially feasible and whether it would be the right thing from a sporting point of view was a separate discussion. But it would have been strange if it hadn’t crossed the minds of many clubs,” he told Tipsbladet.

“Sometimes you can think about whether it’s the right thing to do, but the thought must cross all clubs. It would have been strange if it hadn’t also crossed their minds at Brøndby, FC Copenhagen and OB. And it’s probably even more natural in OB because he’s from there.”
