Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp could be set to indirectly benefit from a Chinese transfer, if Galatasaray get their way.
Galatasaray are currently under investigation over FFP which means the club have only €2m to spend in this transfer window.
The Galatasaray board are hoping the sales of Lukas Podolski and Aurelien Chedjou to China will help ease the pressure financially and they are planning to invest this money to sign Liverpool’s Mamadou Sakho according to Fanatik.
Galatasaray president Dursun Özbek said yesterday that the club is ‘Awaiting attractive offers from China’.
The club sold Burak Yılmaz to Beijing Gouan for €8m last January and now the club are hoping reported Chinese interest for Lukas Podolski and Aurelien Chedjou will be followed up with a bid soon.
If the sales happen, Galatasaray’s first player on the agenda is Liverpool’s misfit Mamadou Sakho. The 26-year old is unable to find himself a place in Liverpool’s squad despite recent injuries in defence.
Sakho has no future at Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp and Galatasaray manager Riekerink has told the board Sakho’s signing will be pivotal for the second half of the season with his side just 3 points off the leaders.
CimBom have conceded 16 goals in the SuperLeague this season and 9 one of them are headers.
Riekerink wants an aerially strong centre back and Liverpool’s Frenchman certainly fits this profile.
Fanatik also says Galatasaray are interested in Atalanta’s Rafael Toloi as Turkish club wants to sign two defenders this window.
Sakho rejected a last minute loan move to Besiktas in the summer and it seems the Frenchman doesn’t fancy playing in Turkey. Although Sakho’s preference is to stay in England, Galatasaray could offer him regular football and a chance to get back into the France national squad.
