Over the past couple of days, talk around Alejandro Garnacho’s future at Manchester United has calmed down considerably.
However, speculation has now grown in Italy again.
Chelsea were mentioned as a keen candidate to land the Argentine but now Napoli are back in the race for the player.
Corriere dello Sport have reported today that the Italian club have given themselves 24 hours to make a decisive move for Garnacho. After that they’ll move to alternatives.
The newspaper’s articles states Manchester United now want €55m for the player. While that is a lower demand than what the Red Devils wanted in the past, Napoli are now facing issues with the winger’s salary.
The 20-year-old is said to be demanding more than €4.5m per season after tax from the Partenopei, and this is a big upgrade on the €1.8m per season that he is earning at Old Trafford.
Napoli have spoken to Garnacho’s entourage about this issue but the feeling is that they are running out of time.
Manchester United are presented as being flexible with their valuation, but the salary issue isn’t as easy as previously thought.
