Anthony Elanga has been restricted to only one substitute appearance for Manchester United this season and it came in their EFL Cup defeat to West Ham United last month.
The forward, however, has been enjoying minutes in the Premier League 2 and also with the Sweden U21 side.
He starred for his country by scoring a brace in their 3-1 victory over Montenegro in the Euro U21 qualifiers in September. The 19-year-old continued to shine for United U23 by scoring three goals and registering one assist in his last three matches.
After finding the back of the net against Montenegro, the Red Devils player was seen shouting at the camera. Elanga has now revealed what he shouted, during an interview with Sweden’s TV4.
“I screamed there’s more to come. Was it after the first goal I screamed? To others I said I would score another goal,” he said, as quoted by Fotbollskanalen.
Elanga has four goals with Sweden’s U21 side and will be looking to extend that record when his country face Montenegro later today. The attacker’s future plans include climbing to Sweden’s senior team.
“I’m here with U21s right now. If I get the opportunity to step up to the national team, I want to be ready. But if I get the opportunity, I’ll take it,” Elanga explained.
