Manchester United youngster Victor Musa is in Athletic Club Bilbao’s sights for the future, according to Spanish journalist Luis Calabor Núñez.
Bilbaohiria also discuss the La Liga side’s interest in the 16-year-old, who has managed six goals and one assist for Manchester United U18s in the U18 Premier League this season.
The forward has a Nigerian and English passport and has become a unique opportunity for Bilbao. Given he was born in Tudela, in the Basque region, he meets one of the ‘fundamental requirements’ to represent them.
Even though Musa’s arrival at the Basque club could generate ‘debate among the most purist fans’, his talent and progression make him an interesting bet for the future.
He operates mainly on the left wing, but has been used as a striker for Manchester United U18s this season. This is the position occupied by Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho in the Red Devils first team.
The duo’s presence would make it hard for Musa to make it to Manchester United’s senior team. In this context, Athletic ‘cannot miss this opportunity’ to secure Musa’s services, given the limited pool of recruitment they have.
Musa will turn 18 years of age in 2024 and it will be the ‘perfect time’ to sign him.
