Portuguese newspaper Record today has a little story about Barcelona’s interest in the Benfica defender Ruben Dias.
The outlet is just covering a couple of recent claims from the Spanish press which say the Catalan side are ‘insisting’ on the signing of the 22-year-old.
However, Record has a little to add to it, claiming Barcelona should have competition from Manchester United in this race.
They actually write that both the Red Devils and Manchester City continue to follow Ruben Dias. But they give the Old Trafford side a bigger emphasis, saying the club are ‘betting on forming a solid defence’.
Record also makes it clear that it’s not Benfica’s intention to let Ruben Dias go so easily. They say the defender isn’t ‘on sale’, and is currently protected by a release clause of €100m, following the last contract extension he agreed with the club.
Manchester United have been linked to Dias for years now, so only a change of attitude would make the Red Devils finally go for the defender.
