Manchester United will only allow Anthony Martial to leave in the summer if they receive an offer between €50m to €55m.
That’s according to Sport 1, who cover reports that the Frenchman is a possible replacement for Erling Haaland at Borussia Dortmund.
Haaland is looking increasingly likely to leave the German club next summer when a release clause comes into effect.
The Norwegian star has pretty much every major club in Europe interested in his services, and should he leave as expected, Dortmund will have a major hole to fill.
Recent reports have indicated that they have Manchester United forward Martial on their list of potential options, with the Frenchman currently down the pecking order at Old Trafford after the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo.
It’s felt he could be moved on, particularly with the emergence of Mason Greenwood creating more competition in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad.
Germany’s Sport 1 say he is very much on the transfer list at the club, but according to their information, Manchester United will only allow him to leave if they receive an offer of €50-55m.
That, though, is a fee that BVB would not be willing to spend, having set their budget for Haaland’s replacement at €30-40m.
Thus, the trail to Martial is currently ‘cold’ at this moment in time, although that could change in January when Dortmund plan ‘exploratory talks’ with their potential targets.
Martial was an option for them in the past, so will likely remain on their list moving forwards, but if a move is to happen, they will have to negotiate Manchester United down considerably.
