Manchester United’s interest in Benfica star João Neves is today again highlighted by the Portuguese media.

This time, it’s newspaper O Jogo who feature a story about the midfielder’s great season, with WhoScored selecting him as the best U-19 player in the Champions League.

It’s said that Neves’ potential has drawn interest from several clubs, as besides Manchester United, the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint Germain have all been following the midfielder as well.

However, it’s the Red Devils’ chase that stands out. O Jogo claims the Old Trafford side are ‘ahead in the race’, as they’re willing to make a ‘big effort’ to get him this summer. The 19-year-old is seen as an ‘important element’ for the future of the team.

The problem is that, with all that competition, Benfica are using his €120m release clause as the price tag for a summer sale.

Even though the story is about João Neves, O Jogo makes sure to say he’s not the only target that the Red Devils have at the Lisbon side, as the English club are also interested in Eagles defender Antonio Silva.
