Earlier today, we pointed out how interesting it was to see a local Porto newspaper talking about Manchester United’s chase for Alex Telles.
O Jogo finally had a story saying the Red Devils placed a bid for the left-back, even though that was turned down by the Dragons.
Now we turn our attention to newspaper A Bola. They’re the only one bringing regular updates on this saga, although they never make it clear if their claims are exclusive.
What they have to say today is that Manchester United are willing to improve their €15m bid, which was delivered by Telles’ agent Pini Zahavi.
However, the new amount to be offered by the Premier League side would depend on performance bonuses, and that’s not something that Porto are interested in. Especially because these payments would only be made in future seasons.
With Manchester United using the argument that Telles’ contract expires at the end of the season, it’s said Porto aren’t impressed with that, and will keep demanding €20m for the move.
A Bola claims that the negotiations only started heating up once the Red Devils lost the race for Sergio Reguilon. That failure made the club’s fans mad, and that’s why the buying side are under more pressure than those selling.
It’s claimed that Alex Telles has no intention to renew his deal with Porto, and wishes to take advantage of the right timing to make this move to the Premier League.
