Manchester United are ‘willing to bid’ for Bayer Leverkusen star Moussa Diaby this summer but face competition from Real Madrid and Bayern Munich for his signature.
That’s according to AS, who cover Real Madrid’s interest in the Frenchman today but say United are also in the race.
Earlier this week, Manchester United were named as suitors for Diaby, with France Football reporting their interest but warning that they would have to put a lot of money on the table to get him.
AS pick up on that and explain that Real Madrid are also keen, with the player said to be ‘very popular’ among their scouting department.
It’s stated that Madrid ‘continue to the explore market possibilities’ and Diaby is one of them, having continued to impress in Germany this year.
His agent held talks with Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund last summer, and it’s now felt it will be ‘very difficult’ for Leverkusen to keep him as bigger clubs have now shown an interest.
That includes Real Madrid, Manchester United and Bayern Munich, with the latter two said to be ‘willing’ make a bid.
In terms of Madrid, the scouting reports they have on the explosive winger are all ‘very positive’ with his great change of pace and ability to drive with the ball at speed, seeing him likened to Liverpool star Sadio Mané.
Coupled with ‘good passing and a finishing touch’, which have been demonstrated with him nine goals and 12 assists so far, there is a real belief the ‘French gem’ is ready to take a step up.
That is where the interest from Europe’s big sides is coming from, although they will have to pay €40m or more if they intend to take him away from Leverkusen.
