Manchester United are ‘suddenly’ chasing Borussia Dortmund star Felix Nmecha ahead of the summer window.
That’s according to Bild, who state the Bundesliga side are concerned about Manchester United’s interest in the 24-year-old as they had no plans to sell him.
Dortmund could see key players leave if they fail to qualify for the Champions League. They are 11th in the table, 10 points behind fourth placed Eintracht Frankfurt and face Barcelona in the Champions League quarterfinals in April.
Nmecha wasn’t among the candidates to be sold in the next window, but Bild say that can change because of Manchester United.
The report states his exit is ‘looming’ after the Red Devils suddenly decided to chase him. They are ‘seriously jeopardising’ BVB’s plans for the Germany international.
Ruben Amorim’s side are keen on acquiring the midfielder’s services and to get the shock transfer done, Bild claim they ‘want to shell out’ €48m in the summer.
If Dortmund continue to struggle this season, Bild claim Nmecha could ‘push’ for a transfer.
Nmecha has been sidelined with a ligament injury since January and returned to training last week.
He’s already missed 183 days due to injuries since joining Dortmund in July 2023. BVB are likely to miss out on Champions League football unless they win the competition and could see big exits in the summer.
This interest feels very questionable indeed. Nmecha isn’t a player Manchester United really need and his injury issues are a warning sign.
