Today is the last day that Manchester United can use their purchase clause over Sofyan Amrabat.
The midfielder arrived on loan from Fiorentina in the summer 2023 transfer window, in a deal which was worth €10m to the Serie A club.
Gazzetta dello Sport report that the finances of that loan were already great for La Viola and if Manchester United use their €20m purchase clause then it would be a ‘perfect’ deal.
However, that’s not expected to happen. That will obviously be confirmed today, with it being the deadline and expiration of the clause.
Once that deadline passes it doesn’t mean the transfer is dead. Amrabat very much wants to return to Manchester United and if that can’t happen then he wants another Premier League club. Interest from Turkey has been pushed aside and isn’t thought to be appealing to the player.
Gazzetta dello Sport make it clear there’s a distinct possibility of Manchester United and Fiorentina sitting around a table to come to an agreement at another price. That would present a discount for the Red Devils, which could be seriously taken into consideration as the window goes on.
