On Thursday, website El Gol Digital have a story saying Ander Herrera could be leaving Manchester United soon, and Valencia and Athletic Bilbao were two of the possibilities for his future.
Herrera is said to be unhappy with his lack of minutes and a winter transfer is stated as ‘almost assured’.
The Spanish outlet is well known for its low reliability, so we left it to one side.
But it turns out that Deporte Valenciano have covered it, and besides telling the story, they have a very interesting take on Herrera’s chances of joining Valencia.
Besides saying the transfer is completely possible, both because of José Mourinho’s lack of appreciation for the player as for Valencia’s good work in the transfer window, they ask themselves if the midfielder would really have a place in the team.
And their answer is clear: no. They even sound pretty excited to say that, because it’s not common for Valencia to turn down a player with Herrera’s quality, but it’s pretty clear for them that today, there’s no room for him.
That’s a pretty audacious thing to say, especially for a club who just signed a Manchester United youngster, who wasn’t getting any minutes either, on a loan deal.
If Herrera’s lack of minutes continues, and a Manchester United exit does start to look inevitable, then the Valencia media may think again.
