Manchester United have become the latest club to be credited with an interest in US Lecce star Patrick Dorgu.
That’s according to journalist Gerardo Fasano and he provided this information to Area Napoli.
He claims Manchester United are showing interest in the 20-year-old mainly because of Ruben Amorim.
The Denmark international has mainly operated as a left-back, before he was moved to the wings at the Serie A side earlier this year. He’s mainly used as a right winger this season while has also operated across the left side.
Amorim used Diogo Dalot as the left wing-back against Ipswich Town and he came off the bench to replace Tyrell Malacia against Bodø/Glimt. The Red Devils manager has deployed Luke Shaw in the back three.
Fasano says the Portuguese coach would have requested the Premier League side to sign Dorgu. He adds Manchester United will table an offer for the versatile player in the winter market.
“Manchester United, on precise indication of their manager Amorim, would like to sink the blow on Patrick Dorgu. The English club needs a left wing-back, and the Danes would be the ideal profile,” he said.
“The incoming offer is between €30-35m plus easily achievable bonuses, already in this market session.”
Napoli have shown keen interest in the Lecce player and Manchester United joining the race is a concern for Antonio Conte’s side.
“Napoli could perhaps close at €30m but leave him on loan. Generally English clubs don’t leave him on loan, they buy immediately,” Fasano explained.
Three days ago, Tuttosport reported Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea are lining up for him. It was also stated Dorgu is unlikely to leave in January unless the interested parties offer creative solutions to Lecce.
