Manchester United are ‘already negotiating’ a deal for highly-rated Argentinian youngster Thiago Almada having been impressed by his versatility.
That’s according to Fichajes, who add their slant to the ongoing rumours about United’s interest in the Velez Sarsfield starlet.
They report that Manchester United are ‘trying to bring forward’ their plans to add players in the coming transfer window and one they ‘want to tie up soon’ is Almada.
It’s believed the youngster is ‘well placed’ to succeed at Old Trafford, with United chiefs feeling he could be a ‘useful addition’ to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad.
That is due to his versatility, with the 19-year-old central midfielder comfortable playing on either wing due to his ‘speed, dribbling (and) great vision’.
Manchester United are not the only side to have shown an interest in his signature, with Arsenal and Atlético Madrid also ‘very interested’ but it now seems it’s United who are moving to the front of the queue.
Almada has a €22m release clause for this window, meaning he could prove to be a relative bargain in a summer where finances are likely to be tight for many clubs.
Whether United are pushing ahead in their attempts to sign him, however, remains to be seen.
They’ve repeatedly been credited with an interest in the midfielder, that’s undeniable, but it has never really advanced beyond that stage.
There have been numerous reports this week from all around the world indicating that was about to change, but the reality is none of them have even remotely felt concrete.
Indeed, like this latest one from Fichajes, most have only suggested that United are pushing forward, rather than outright claiming they are doing so, which would suggest their interest in Almada remains just that at this stage of the summer.
The likelihood is that he is a player they like the look of and could move for at some point, but when that will be, or if it will even happen, is anyone’s guess.
