Manchester United target Jeremie Frimpong wants to move to the Premier League this summer, with Bayer Leverkusen more than open to a sale.
Kicker cover the player today and how he is expected to leave the German club in this summer transfer window as it has become apparent he won’t be signing an extension to his current deal, which expires in 2025.
The Bundesliga side don’t let players get into the final years of their deals, preferring to sell before then, as they did with Kai Havertz.
It’s the same with Frimpong, who ‘wants to take the next step’ in his career and would prefer to return to the UK, where he was a youngster at Manchester City before later breaking through at Celtic.
Manchester United are ‘interested’ in him and have been reportedly considering a new right-back, and if a ‘suitable offer’ comes in, which would have to be in the ‘upper double-digit millions’ then he ‘will leave’ Leverkusen.
Whether United do make such an offer remains to be seen, but he’s been strongly linked in recent months.
For example, a report at the beginning of May made it clear that he was in ‘fairly advanced’ negotiations with Manchester United. It was then reported later in the month that ‘Manchester United beckons’ for the full-back.
They just seemingly need to make their move and offer a deal to Leverkusen, who, for their part, are more than ready to see the defender depart.
