Memphis Depay spoke to the Dutch media on Tuesday and little bits of the interview keep popping up in various Netherlands publications.
On Tuesday, we covered some great words from Depay on feeling like ‘a loaded gun’ and not simply being content to sit on the bench at his ‘dream club’ Manchester United.
You can read that here after you’ve finished this one.
Wednesday’s edition of De Telegraaf has some more words from the interview, and what Depay said about Manchester United teammate Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
The 22 year old said: “With Zlatan Ibrahimovic I talk a lot. He has a killer mentality and wants to win everything, even in training. Like me. Therefore, the level is so high. I train with top players.”
Depay explained that working with top and ‘positive’ players is something which rubs off on himself and others. Ibrahimovic’s attitude is an addition that Manchester United needed both on the pitch and off it, as explained by Depay.
Getting an unexpected call-up to Danny Blind’s Netherlands squad, due to injuries, sounds like it’s given Depay a boost and he’ll hopefully get a chance against Belarus and/or France to show what he can do… and actually do it.
