Moises Caicedo’s transfer to Manchester United is now done, according to claims from South America.
Ecuadorian journalist Diego Arcos is the one reporting that the move is now ‘official’, even though he brings no more details on it.
The same goes for website Gol Ecuador. They claim that Caicedo is ‘the new Manchester United player’, as the Red Devils will pay £4.5m for him.
They write that the 19-year-old is signing a five-year deal with the Old Trafford side, adding that the transfer is ‘done’.
The day has been pretty busy in the Ecuadorian media. In the morning, they claimed that a deal wasn’t done, but something could show up ‘in the coming hours’.
It was later journalist Jorge Baravalle who claimed there was an agreement between the clubs, even though they had to wait for the confirmation that Caicedo would get a work permit.
As explained by Sport Witness on Twitter, the midfielder should have no problems with that, since he’s been getting enough appearances for Independiente del Valle in the Copa Libertadores.
Of course, there can be repeat claims a transfer is ‘official’ but until it’s actually announced it isn’t.
Independiente Del Valle are still to confirm the deal. Journalist José Carlos Crespo says that according to the club, there’s been no formal offer from Manchester United yet. They admit a Red Devils approach through scouts and officials, but only to know more about the player’ situation.
Journalist Roberto Carlos Machado is another one who says the deal is all sorted, but with a slight difference in the figures, claiming it’s done for £4.7m
