It seems that Manchester United have really lost the race for Benfica wonderkid Umaro Embalo.

Despite having been said to have an agreement for the 16-year-old a few months ago, the Red Devils should now see the player move to Germany, where he is set to join RB Leipzig.

That’s what several Portuguese newspapers are claiming, including A Bola and Record. The first says it’s a €20m deal, with the latter claiming it’s of ‘only’ €15m.

Benfica president Luis Filipe Vieira travelled to Germany this Wednesday, making the transfer very close to happening.

As reported by A Bola earlier this week, Manchester United were thrown out of the race since the Red Devils refused to pay more than €5m for a 16-year-old.

RB Leipzig had offered only €10m, but with Benfica being Benfica, they always know how to get the most money out of a sale. And according to the reports, the Portuguese side still managed to keep a percentage in case of a future transfer.
