Earlier this month, AS reported Manchester United have entered the race to sign RB Leipzig star Dani Olmo, who has also been linked with Manchester City and Barcelona.
Saturday’s edition of Sport says Manchester City are ‘not a threat’ for the La Liga side in the chase for the 26-year-old.
Barca have to keep an eye on Manchester United as they have ‘shown great interest’ in securing Olmo’s services this summer.
Recent claims have stated Manchester City have made an offer, but Sport have dismissed it.
As well as the Red Devils, Chelsea are in the picture, while Pep Guardiola’s side are now in the background to sign the attacking midfielder.
Barca are confident of beating Manchester United and other English clubs to the Spain international’s signature. The player’s desire is to return to the Catalan club, and they are optimistic of agreeing a deal with Leipzig.
Last summer, the German club rejected Manchester City’s offer, and promised to let Olmo leave in this window. Sport say Leipzig now ‘want to keep their word’, and sanction a sale, but they need an offer of around €60m including bonuses.
Barca need to raise funds to meet Leipzig’s request, and this could allow Erik ten Hag’s side to get ahead of them.
Manchester United have reportedly positioned themselves in the transfer race and they will have to convince Olmo to acquire his signature.
