Manchester United spent much of the summer being linked with almost every conceivable midfield signing they could make, but in the end the issue of strengthening in the middle of the park was left for a later window.
One man who perhaps wasn’t linked as much as would be expected was Franck Kessie. With his contract expiring at the end of the current season, the AC Milan player has been the subject of repeated transfer claims.
Manchester United weren’t mentioned often, however, they got a shout from Tuttosport at the weekend, and now Mundo Deportivo say they could present serious competition for Barcelona.
The Catalans are said to be considering a swoop for Paul Pogba, and Kessie is presented as an alternative, despite them being very different types of midfielders. When it comes to the Milan player, it’s stated Barca wouldn’t have things easy, because Manchester United have ‘set their sights’ on the 24-year-old.
PSG, Real Madrid and Juventus are also presented as serious options, with Liverpool and Tottenham tagged in on the end.
Kessie may not be Manchester United’s first choice, yet should other options fade then he’s a bargain alternative in the market.
