Earlier this week, we covered claims from Portugal which stated Manchester United are preparing an offer to sign Sporting’s Geovany Quenda.
The 17-year-old is on the frontpage of today’s A Bola, stating that Jorge Mendes has been involved in this operation.
Within the report, it’s claimed the agent has already held talks with Manchester United, who have €60m ready to secure the deal for Quenda.
The newspaper states the Premier League side are ‘committed to signing’ the right wing-back and have ‘set aside’ €60m excluding bonuses.
A Bola insists the Primeira Liga side won’t be able to ignore if Manchester United were to offer €60m plus bonuses. This is to ‘get ahead of the competition’ to agree a deal with Sporting for the Portugal U21 international to arrive at Old Trafford next summer.
They also relay claims made in England about Liverpool joining their league rivals in the chase for the talented youngster.
Manchester United setting aside funds and the Ruben Amorim factor could give them an edge over the Reds.
Quenda has managed two goals and two assists from 20 games for Sporting this season.
