Ongoing for a few years now, the idea that Sergej Milinković-Savić could end up at Manchester United refuses to go away.
It’s always linked to the future of Paul Pogba, whose contract at Old Trafford expires in the summer, and with no renewal in sight, the Serbian replacing him in Ralf Rangnick’s current team makes sense.
Juventus are also interested, although there is a feeling that if they could bring back the Frenchman, they would do that instead, which leaves the door open for Manchester United to bring in the Lazio star.
Juve Dipendenza look at the situation on Wednesday, and explain that if the Turin club want to sign Milinković-Savić, they will have to ‘beat the competition of foreign clubs’, which includes the Red Devils.
Not only that, but it’s suggested that ‘even if there is no confirmation from this point of view, the favourites seem to be’ Manchester United, and ‘not just for financial reasons’.
That’s because Real Madrid, also liked, ‘have a very rich midfield’ while Paris Saint-Germain would be more willing to ‘turn to Pogba’ and sign the France international on a free.
The logic makes sense, but first, the aforementioned Frenchman needs to decide what he wants to do, because if he stays at Old Trafford, the Milinković-Savić option would likely no longer be viable.
