With the number of games Manchester United scout in Portugal every season, it’s perhaps strange they aren’t linked with more players in that league.
Now following the many visits to FC Porto, it seems the Old Trafford side finally identified a target they’re interested in. That’s Dragons midfielder Otávio.
Newspaper A Bola today features a piece claiming the 27-year-old’s good season is drawing interest from a few clubs, and Manchester United are one of them.
It’s said the Red Devils have Otávio ‘on their radar’. He’s said to be ‘referenced’ for next season because ‘his characteristics please’ the club.
However, it turns out Otávio won’t be a cheap player to sign. Firstly, because he’s well protected by a release clause worth €60m, and that’s all A Bola has to say about his price.
Now regarding competition, it’s pointed out that other Premier League clubs, along with Paris Saint Germain, are all interested in the Portugal international as well. So with the race growing, we all know the numbers for his signing are likely to go up.
Manchester United are often reported to be watching Porto, and the latest claims about their scouting job actually came from France, when the Dragons played Lyon in the Europa League. So it’s safe to say Otávio is a well known target for Ralf Rangnick’s side.
