Manchester United have ‘asked’ Real Madrid abut the availability of Vinicius Junior after seemingly missing out on Jadon Sancho.
That’s according to Defensa Central, who claim an exclusive to say United are on the hunt for alternatives to Sancho following their issues reaching an agreement with Borussia Dortmund.
Sancho has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford for several months, but Dortmund set a deadline of August 10th for any move to happen.
That has since passed and, at least according to the statements coming out of Germany, a transfer will not be happening.
They’ve been told by ‘sources close to the white team’ that United have ‘asked’ about the forward’s situation at the club and are willing to ‘offer good money’ to convince him into the move.
However, Vinicius has ‘completely refused’ their advances. He would not consider even starting negotiations with Manchester United and plans to fight for his place in the team.
Madrid, likewise, are not all that keen on selling him. Zinedine Zidane believes he has made a ‘good impression’ this season and ‘does not value’ any offers he may receive.
That should put an end to this Manchester United rumour before it starts, although it was pretty dubious, to begin with.
The notion of Vinicius as an alternative to Sancho seemed strange given the fact one is a bonafide star at this moment in time while the other is very much a player in the early stages of his career in Europe, despite them being the same age.
It was similarly odd they would target a player who plays predominantly on the left, a position currently occupied by Marcus Rashford, as an alternative to a player they wanted to improve their right-wing.
In fact, even Defensa Central say it was a non-starter in Madrid, meaning if you see it elsewhere, you know how to treat it.
