Manchester United are interested in Lazio striker Ciro Immobile, according to claims from the Italian media.
Website Calcio Mercato brings an exclusive report saying the Red Devils continue to look for a replacement for Romelu Lukaku, who left Old Trafford to join Inter Milan last year.
Immobile is said to be one of ‘the names in red’. It’s claimed that no moves have been made so far, but the wish to sign him is real.
Still, the website considers it pretty hard for Manchester United to sign the 30-year-old. Immobile has a contract running until 2023, and the outlet claims that Lazio will do everything they can do hold him for longer.
Even though it’s been a while since Immobile started being wanted by top European sides, his statistics are still pretty impressive. He has 30 goals and seven assists in 33 appearances for Lazio this season, and is currently the top scorer in Serie A.
Manchester United interest is hard to believe, though. Given Immobile’s age, and that he failed when moving to Borussia Dortmund, it just doesn’t seem likely the Premier League club would make a move.
