Considering Luke Shaw has picked up back to back Player of the Month awards at Manchester United, replacing him now would make no sense whatsoever.
However, if Radio Kiss Kiss in Italy are to be believed, then that’s exactly what José Mourinho is trying to do.
Relayed by Calciomercato, the station claim that ‘in recent hours’, Manchester United have made a €45m bid for Napoli’s Faouzi Ghoulam.
On top of that, the Red Devils are said to have offered the Algerian defender a contract worth €6m/year, which equates to around £100k/week.
Napoli’s reply to all this? A straight ‘no’, securing the future of their player at the club.
While Manchester United have indeed been reportedly interested in the defender over the past year or so, going all out for him now seems very out of character.
Not only that, but Ghoulam has yet to set foot on a football pitch this season, spending the vast majority of the last campaign injured, first rupturing the cruciate ligament in his knee before then fracturing his kneecap in February.
We’re a bit lost with this one, to be honest with you.
