Manchester United are ‘ready to welcome’ Kalidou Koulibaly this summer as Napoli eye a sale to cover their debts.
That’s according to Tuttosport, relayed by Calcio Napoli, who say his agent Fali Ramadani is working to find a team willing to pay Napoli’s asking price.
Like most teams, Napoli’s finances have been decimated by the Coronavirus pandemic, and so they need a big sale this summer to cover the gap.
With a total of around €80.2m to cover, they plan to save money in two ways, first by reducing the wage bill and then selling 2/3 valuable players.
Koulibaly falls perfectly into that bracket, and Tuttosport say his agent is ‘working’ to find a team who are willing to pay the €45-50m asking price that Napoli have set.
There are three ‘interested’ parties willing to so that, with Bayern Munich, Manchester United and Real Madrid all ‘ready to welcome’ the defender.
Whether they’ll pay Napoli’s demands isn’t made clear, but it seems they’re all keen on a deal if it’s there to be done.
That certainly makes sense for Manchester United, who have long been linked with a move for Koulibaly and are thought to be keen on adding a centre back to their squad this summer.
Less so for Bayern and Madrid, though, given they’ve just spent big to sign Dayot Upamecano and David Alaba, respectively.
