As you may have heard, Kim Min-jae has a release clause in his contract this summer, and Manchester United are reportedly interested in the defender.
That’s because Erik ten Hag doesn’t appear fully convinced with either Victor Lindelöf or Harry Maguire at Old Trafford, and he will need someone to help out Raphaël Varane and Lisandro Martínez when required.
The South Korea international is having a fantastic first season with Napoli in Italy, but the release clause in his contract has the Serie A side a bit worried, and they are trying to alter the situation with a new deal, as explained by Ciro Venerato on Tg Sport, relayed by Calcio Napoli 24.
The journalist then names the interested clubs, who are Manchester United, Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain, with all three said to have their finger on the offer trigger.
“The agency that takes care of his images and interests are much more buyable and are offering him to various continental clubs. Liverpool, Manchester United and PSG are the ones most interested, ready to guarantee him €5m net per season by paying the release clause, which fluctuates between €50-70m.
“The final figure (of the clause) is linked to the club’s turnover and participation in the Champions League.”
Either way, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen that Manchester United are said to be ready to trigger the Napoli star’s release clause, with the defender also not the only player in the south of Italy the Red Devils are monitoring.
It’s well known they will need a new striker in the future, regardless of what happens with Wout Weghorst, and Victor Osimhen appears to be among Erik ten Hag’s preferred targets.
