Manchester United’s loss to Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final is damaging in multiple ways for the Red Devils, one of those being the financial impact it will have on the club.

Securing Champions League football for next season would have been a huge financial boost to the club, with the money that comes directly from UEFA plus the associated income from other avenues.

Given all of that, it will impact the summer window and what Ruben Amorim has to spend. Italy’s SportMediaSet have now made a big claim in that regard.

MediaSet is the biggest non-public broadcaster in Italy, founded by the late Silvio Berlusconi who used to own AC Milan, so it’s quite a big deal.

The report states Manchester United are ‘ready to exercise’ Moise Kean’s release clause at Fiorentina, having moved from Viktor Gyokeres to cheaper targets. That clause stands at €52m and can be activated until mid July. Kean has scored 24 goals in 43 matches for La Viola this season, and it’s easily the best campaign of the 25-year-old’s career.

However, given his struggles previously, especially when at Everton, it’s hard to believe Manchester United would take such a gamble this summer. Kean’s agents also represent Dejan Kulusevski and Riccardo Calafiori, so perhaps they feel it’s time to take another player to England.

Someone has fed this information to SportMediaSet and it may be an attempt to hype the player’s profile.
