Paul Pogba is out of contract at Manchester United at the end of the season and can leave them as a free agent for the second time in his career.
The midfielder first left the Red Devils and joined Juventus on a free transfer in 2012. He starred for four years in Serie A and that convinced the Old Trafford club to invest big on bringing Pogba back to the club in 2016.
With his contract expiring in June, the 28-year-old is attracting interest from other clubs. Manchester United, for their part, are ‘ready to take an important step’, while the player has ‘not yet lifted his reservations on the next stage of his career’.
That’s according to Calciomercato, who state the France international’s employer want to avoid losing him for free for the second time. The idea of the English club’s management is to offer him ‘an extension for at least one year’.
Manchester United are in the process of appointing Erik ten Hag as their next manager and it will also be ‘fundamental’ to know his ideas about the Frenchman.
If Ten Hag’s project involves Pogba, the club ‘will do everything to satisfy’ the Dutchman. If not, then the ‘idea of a new separation is bound to become more and more concrete’ for the midfielder.
It’s not clear whether it would make sense for Pogba to sign a new deal at Manchester United for ‘at least one year’.
