Gareth Bale to Manchester United is a transfer rumour which won’t go away.

It dates back to the Welshman’s time at Southampton when it was assumed by many that he’d move up to Manchester and become the next Ryan Giggs. Tottenham followed instead and then Bale pushed for his Madrid dream and has been in La Liga since 2013.

With big changes at Madrid this summer, and Bale putting doubt on his future after his excellent Champions League final performance, it makes sense for the Manchester United rumours to rise.

Jose Mourinho is a self confessed fan and Old Trafford could do with another arrival or several this summer.

Stirring the Madrid pot, Catalan newspaper Sport reports Manchester United are ‘ready to make a great economic effort’ to sign the player.

Claims from England are then referenced, of talks being advanced, but Sport point out Bale’s agent is yet to meet Real Madrid and much will depend on that.

If the footballer is given a senior role in the team then it’s unlikely he’ll push to move, it’s what he’s always hoped for. But if not, if there’s no assurances he’ll be more prominent, then it makes a move likelier.

Until that meeting happens, everything is in the balance.

Sport suggest the BBC could be falling apart.

The C, Cristiano, has already gone, and the Bs of Bale and Benzema have doubts around them.
